LinkIt! Parent Portal
Assessment Information for Montclair Families
Montclair Public Schools uses LinkIt! to help educators review student learning data, identify strengths and determine where additional instruction or support may be needed. Through the LinkIt! Parent Portal, families of students in grades 1 through 8 can view their child's district benchmark assessment results.
The LinkIt! Parent Portal and the district's benchmark assessment program are overseen by the Montclair Public Schools Department of Equity, Curriculum and Instruction.
Benchmark results represent one part of a student's academic experience. They are most meaningful when considered alongside classroom performance, teacher observations, student work and other measures of progress.
Understanding Benchmark Results
District benchmark assessments are generally administered during the fall, winter and spring. These assessments measure students' understanding of grade level standards, including some skills and concepts that may not yet have been taught at the time of the assessment.
For this reason, families may see standards identified as below benchmark during the fall or winter. These results do not necessarily indicate that a student is behind. They provide educators with an early view of student understanding and help inform instructional planning throughout the school year.
By the spring administration, students have received more instruction connected to the assessed standards, allowing the results to provide a fuller picture of progress toward grade level expectations.
Each assessment is also organized by standards and skills. These areas can offer more useful information than the overall score alone by helping educators identify specific student strengths and opportunities for continued growth.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do if I did not receive a registration email?
Contact your child's school main office to confirm that your current email address is listed correctly and that you are authorized for portal access.
Why is my registration code not working?
Be sure you are using the same email address that received the registration code. Each code is connected to a specific email address. If the code has already been activated, select Lost Password to recover access to your account.
What should I do if I forgot my password?
Select Lost Password on the LinkIt! sign in page and enter the email address associated with your district records.
Why do I not see all of my children?
If a child does not appear in your account, contact the child's school main office to confirm that the student is connected to the correct parent or guardian email address in the district's student information system.
Should I be concerned about a fall or winter score?
Benchmark assessments may include grade level standards that have not yet been taught. A fall or winter result should not be interpreted as a final measure of a student's achievement. These results help teachers identify existing strengths, plan instruction and monitor growth as students encounter more of the curriculum.
Who should I contact with questions?
Questions about an individual student's assessment results should begin with the student's classroom teacher. The teacher can explain the results within the broader context of the student's classroom learning, work and progress.
Questions about district benchmark assessments or the instructional use of LinkIt! may be directed to the Montclair Public Schools Department of Equity, Curriculum and Instruction.
